September EcoSwim at FGAC
Dear Beth, Naomi, Bea, Gaby, Ben, Kristen, Katja, Don, Shari, Milka and Capone,
You did it again. At Northeast Community Center on Saturday, you walked our PRSG ladies through a new "live bait rescue”. Not only that, you reinforced basic stroke development, you brought them to deeper water, you stuck with it, and you had fun. Then on Sunday at Forest Grove Aquatic Center, you matched perfectly with our Bienestar kids, and with humor and skill you gracefully walked them through the fundamentals of water safety and stroke development. You took their lead, you laughed and you shared your love for the water in step by step fashion. Welcome to our new instructors Don, Ben, Katja and Kristen. Wonderful to have you back Gaby and Shari. Milka, Bea, and Capone led the way with your expert skills. And Beth pulled a twofer, Saturday and Sunday! THANK YOU. You made magic, again.
Our next EcoSwim clinic with Bienestar at Forest Grove Aquatic Center will be Sunday 10/20, 3-6p. Please ping me if you can make it on 10/20.
Our next EcoSwim clinic with Pacific Refugee Support Network at Northeast Community Center will be Saturday 10/26, 11:30-1:30. Please ping me if you can make it on 10/26.
Also, please come out to Broughton Beach this Saturday 9/28 for a dawn-to-dusk swim relay (with a fun mobile sauna) to benefit WaterStrong. THANK YOU to the lovely Ballenas for hosting, and THANK YOU to the Merfolk for flexing your scheduled swims and gear swap to make room for the event.
And keep an eye out for our new slate of basic first aid CPR offerings with our brand new American Red Cross CPR instructors.
Finally (for now) stay tuned for a profile in amazingness. As you recall, WaterStrong was honored with two exciting grants in 2023-2024 to support women in building professional skills in water safety and water stewardship. In the coming weeks, I will share their stories.
Swim! Learn! Thrive!
