WaterStrong CPR training program launches

A little over two years ago, WaterStrong received $30,000 in grant funding to support the vision to save lives and heal the planet, destroying barriers along the way. Intending to the destroy the barriers that so many women and women of color encounter in the workforce, we used those grant funds to focus on training women to become first responders - water rescue instructors, CPR trainers, educators, etc. Those dollars funded the delivery of 12 community workshops in Red Cross basic first aid / CPR/ AED, sponsored 15 women (including 2 mother-daughter pairs) to become Red Cross CPR instructors, supported 2 newly certified NOLS Wilderness First Responders, 2 certified Lifesaving Resources Water Rescue Instructors who traveled cross country for the training course, and 1 new Red Cross Lifeguard to join 4 current lifeguards. ALL WOMEN. Our WaterStrong CPR Training Cohort is women of color, new immigrants, mothers, sisters, allies, multitasking brave visionary heroes who intend to, and will, save lives. They are Nana, Naomi, Andy, Shelby, Grey, Denise, Jazanna, Habiba, Nargis, Samia, Theresa, Marzia, Dena, and Basira. We couldn’t have done it without the guidance of great mentors in Chelsea, Kelley, and Jeff.

The WaterStrong CPR Training Program has launched! WaterStrong now offers in-person Red Cross Adult & Pediatric Basic First Aid / CPR / AED certification workshops. Our trainers are thrilled to get started and our first round of classes have been a hit.

With wisdom and grace, WaterStrong board member Nana Hoerth (founder of YETI Foundation for Child Safety) coordinates the CPR Training Program, ensuring every class runs smoothly.

And we couldn’t be more excited for a welcoming host in our newest partner Next Adventure to provide us event space in the Paddle Sports Center. I am thrilled for this partnership and programming growth. More coming soon.
